The actress first visited Dubai in 2008 while attending the launch of Atlantis, the Palm, and she claims it has given her a better quality of life.

The World is a man-made archipelago of 300 islands shaped to look like a global map, located some 4 kilometres off the coast and made almost entirely from sand dredged out of Dubai’s coastal water.
However the project has been beset by difficulties following the global financial crisis in 2009 and currently remains unfinished – some 20 years after plans for the development were first announced.
Oscar winner Swank’s property is understood to be in the area, where homes sell for as much as $17million, but its exact whereabouts have not been disclosed.

Remarkably, the living room is beneath sea level, giving Madonna and her family an opportunity to view dolphins and other marine wildlife through reinforced windows.
And while the location of Swank’s home remains a secret, the globe trotting pop legend has opted for a property in the heart of the archipelago’s ‘European’ island.
The World islands project was first announced in May 2003 by Sheikh Mohammed, with dredging of shallow water close to the Dubai coastline starting four months later.
Almost 60% of the islands were sold by 2008, with 20 bought within the first four months of 2007 as a result of high demand.

Dubai has a hot desert climate, and rainfall is scarce.
Due to the city’s close proximity to the sea, the temperatures in Dubai are slightly milder in summer in comparison to other Gulf cities such as Kuwait City and Riyadh.
However, this means the city has high humidity which can make the weather extremely unpleasant in summer.
It is much hotter than Essex.
The average top temperature in Essex is 14C in April compared to a balmy 33C in Dubai.
